Small Town Celebration

In 1776, a reading of the Declaration of Independence was held on the city courthouse steps in downtown Easton, Pennsylvania. Today was filed with family friendly children activities and fun for all. It was followed with fireworks that could be enjoyed close up or from a distance. The festivities were a celebration of freedom done right.
Options are great. Especially, for those working class people that prefer to get some rest the night before a new week begins. The night was quiet with no around the town fireworks like the 4th of July celebration. It is nice to be able to relax and enjoy life. To just live! Too many people have forgotten how to do just that… Live!
Small towns are surrounded by peace, quiet, and relaxation. The people that live in such communities are able to enjoy life at their own pace in a stress free environment. They live far away from the road rage that fills our highways today.
Traffic flows great when everyone is in a cruising groove. For example, 35 cars on any interstate may travel along at 5 miles over the posted speed limit making good time, each keeping their safe distance, and remaining relaxed. Is it the need for instant gratification that ruins the flow?
A car comes along traveling at 11 miles over the posted speed limit. It is traveling 6 miles an hour faster. The “I have to have it now!” attitude puts the individual driving and the people cruising life in danger. The situation becomes more dangerous in heavy traffic and road conditions. The roadway may be wet, filled with large hills, curves, or uneven. Is it worth putting lives on the line for six minutes an hour? How about gaining 1 minute in a 10 minute drive? Where is everybody going in such a hurry?
The small towns are able to enjoy life at their own pace. It is a lifestyle without road rage. Where people enjoy bike rides and walking on sunny days.
Yet, this way of life was slowly being taken away to save money for the government. The use of combining school districts into one larger city has destroyed what once was. More cash flow and a less tax for larger cities may result in more communication amongst citizens? Communication strengthens. It may be the weakest link in our society today. Smaller towns communicate better because of the lower number of people living close to each other. They rely on neighbors and strengthen the town. Why would a government want to harm strong unity?
Oversea countries are better equipped to deal with disasters. They do not loot their stores for instant gratification when things go wrong. Instead, the people work together to improve the situation. There is too much involvement by government and the people in the land. Who is living?
Small town people do not need much to survive. Money is not the answer for all. The land provides much substance for individual communities to live peaceful. When does a person relax, enjoy life, and just live?
