The Soul

The Soul

What a tragedy it is to have lived my entire life by ego never getting to know and understand the soul within.

There are three parts to the human psyche:

Mind – Conscious ego

Soul – Personal unconscious

Spirit – Collective unconscious (All religions come from)

Psyche is the name of a Greek goddess. The mythical story tells how the beautiful mortal Psyche was loved by Eros (Cupid). Eros visited her only at night. Her jealous sisters convinced her to look at him, but Eros left, and after a series of impossible tasks set by Aphrodite, Psyche was reunited with Eros and became a goddess.

Eros visiting only at night can be interpreted as the personal unconscious speaking through dreams. Psyche being forced to look at Eros is the ego finally turning to look inward at the self. The tasks set by Aphrodite is the required shadow work suggested by Carl Jung. Psyche and Eros united is the completion of consciousness known as integration of the mind and soul.

The idea of the soul is a core construct to many religions. The soul is a matter of personal spiritual beliefs and faith. Science has been unable to confirm the soul existence. This leaves many people to be skeptical and have doubt. Yet, many empaths have spiritual connections through seeing spirits, great intuition, and clairvoyance.

The earliest account of the soul is first mentioned in the Old Testament. In Genesis 2:7, And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. All living animals have the breath of life and a soul with this belief. A cat, dog, deer, pig, horse, crow, eagle, etc. all possess soul.

Therefore, Who/What are you? Flesh and bone? This is what the ego would have you believe. The ego will follow the script of society, the world. Life is designed of education, work, and retirement. Who was before the ego? Soul?

The devil does not want you to know the truth. To know the truth is to know your soul. The integration of knowing your soul is to know God. Do not allow ego and pride to control. Have an open mind and gain wisdom.

Ian Stevenson studied over three thousand stories of children speaking of past lives. His research was inspired during a trip to India. Shanti Devi was an Indian woman who claimed to remember her previous life. It was the most famous investigation for reincarnation.

The concept of reincarnation strongly suggests an existence of a soul.

A critic from Sweden, Sture Lonnerstrand, came to prove Shanti’s claim as fake. Upon completion of the investigation, he stated, “This is the only fully explained and proven case of reincarnation there has ever been.

Jim Tucker continues the work of studying reincarnation claims made by children. There are many examples of children between the age 2 to 6 remembering and speaking of past lives. This suggests a conscious soul within the body of flesh and bone. The reincarnation is the soul born with light. (Rudolph the red nose reindeer). The world will try to hide and extinguish the light.

An early Sigmund Freud theory suggests the development of ego is between the age of 2 and 4 years old. The emergence of the ego allows children to differentiate and interact with the world. It develops to protect the body from material harm. This results in the ego dimming the light of the soul. The truth (soul) of children is not accepted by adults. Parents will overlook the words spoken by children as childish fantasy or imagination.

The ego becomes the conscious self. It is the public identity an individual presents to the world. The soul becomes the unconscious self. It turns into the shadow aspects of personality deemed unacceptable or undesirable.

Carl Jung believed the ego originates from the archetypal self, representing an innate sense of wholeness from birth. He warns that the ego often believes it is above the (soul) shadow. The shadow’s desire to be needed and accepted permits the illusion even at the cost of being whole. What you call self is incomplete and only one half of your being.

Jung believed in the “Integration” of the ego and shadow, the conscious and unconscious aspects of the psyche to form a whole individual self. You must face what you have hidden in the shadow. This is possible through the individuation process of Carl Jung’s psychology. He stated, “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”

Edgar Cayce explained when souls take on physical form they slowly lose memory of their divine origins. He described this as the development of the ego. He believed the mission of each individual is soul development and individual growth. Cayce stated, “It is a greater feat to conquer oneself than to conquer the world.”

Likewise, the ancient wisdom of Socrates states, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” This is to know yourself, your values, and the world you live in. You must take the time to look at your inner self. Do not hurry through life experiences, thoughts, relationships, and difficulties. Stop and think deeply about their meaning or consequences.

According to Edgar Cayce trance readings, the soul chooses its parents and prepares a script for its new life even before birth. The soul comes into families with challenges. We will have to overcome pain, difficulties, misunderstandings, and even betrayal. Cayce explained, “The soul chooses not comfort but growth.” The soul chooses bases on karmic experiences. What needs to be lived through, worked out, healed, or completed.

Many people have had near death experiences (NDE’s). Advancements in medical technologies and medications have resulted in an increased number of NDE’s. Doctors, nurses, and scientists witness patients clinically die, and then be revived. These patients confidently believe they felt their spirit lift out of their body. Reports of NDE’s provide the possibility of the survival of the human soul after death.

Regardless of whether or not one believes in the book of souls, reincarnation, and the selection of parents, one must live their lifetime. A person should seek wisdom, believe in their abilities, and learn to have a strong mental mind.
